Gary has been on, or around, the golf course for more than 40 years. His journey started with his father, Craig Shankland (PGA National Teacher of the Year/ Golf Digest Top 100 Coach) who taught him to love the game deeply. His father always told him “There are two skills that need to be learned: Hitting a golf ball, and playing the game.” Gary would spend hours on the practice areas improving his skills, but most of his development happened on the courses themselves. “That is where you will learn to score!”, his father would say.
After two decades of competitive golf, Gary decided to follow his father’s footsteps in Coaching. His mission is to help golfers, at every skill level, develop a love for the game. He keeps his process simple and creates a unique path for each student. Being a TPI Certified Coach, he believes in the motto: “There is not one perfect swing, but there is an Efficient swing for each individual based on their unique physical abilities.”
With his friendly demeanor and ability to listen, Gary takes his students on a journey of self discovery. He will create a process for each student that is portable and simple to practice. “Remember that the process is paramount! Without it, you are just hitting balls”.
Improvement is not difficult once you have a path, and are willing to walk down that path.
Here is what the students say!
